A learning and community hub, rebuilt and connected to a registration system
The need
A professional programme ran a learning and community website on an older build. It wanted the site rebuilt, and new sign-ups from its separate registration system to reach the site automatically.
What we did
- We rebuilt the site on WordPress and moved the learning content, the community content and the members across.
- We recreated the registration and login forms from the old site.
- We built a one-way sync from the registration system. New registrations arrive as a signed message, and the site accepts only the ones that carry the right signature.
- We sent an email from the site once a registration had synced.
- We also set up a two-way sync that can be switched on later, because the client chose to begin with one way.
- We went live in stages: the old site in maintenance mode, a backup, a final content sync, a check of the pages, then go-live.
- Afterwards we made the changes the client asked for, such as linking quizzes to groups and fixing a report download.
